De la Fuente, who has coached Spain s Under-19, Under-21 and Under-23 teams over the past decade, was confirmed as his replacement, with the 61-year-old set to make his bow in Euro 2024 qualification next year.

Kylian Mbappe says he is leaving Paris Saint-Germain with his head held high but Luis Enrique does not expect to replace his star forward.

His last game for Luis Enrique s side came in Saturday s Coupe de France final at Lille s Stade Pierre-Mauroy, with first-half strikes from Ousmane Dembele and Fabian Ruiz securing a 2-1 win against Lyon.

It was both difficult and enjoyable because it s a final, and in the end, we won. It s filled with joy, Mbappe told reporters.

It s all good memories, many years, both at PSG and of course in this league. We leave with our heads held high, es…

Klopp warns Dortmund about ´quality´ Gladbach

Borussia Dortmund head coach Jurgen Klopp has talked up upcoming opponents Borussia Mönchengladbach ahead of their Bundesliga battle.

League leaders Dortmund will be on the road at Mönchengladbach s Borussia-Park on Saturday, aiming to preserve their unbeaten record this season and make it seven wins from eight matches.

Dortmund have not won at Mönchengladbach since October 2009 and Klopp said his side will have to do something special to surpass Lucien Favre s men.

They have a good team, plenty of quality, great footballers, Klopp said on Friday.

We have focused on two games on our analysis, the previous home and previous away game.

I think the difference on their performances isn t that big anymore (between home and away).

Our campaign starts with defeat in Munich.

Prediction: Bayer Leverkusen vs Bayern Munich

Verdict: Over 3,5 goals yes

Best Odds:

Bookmaker:

The German Bundesliga will return following the yearly winter break, and it could not have returned with a better match. Reigning champions Bayern Munich will look to extend their lead at the top of the standings, but will battle against another top team such as Bayer Leverkusen. Kick-off is scheduled at 19:30 hrs GMT.

Bayer Leverkusen

Leverkusen have looked impressive during the current season, and in fact they are riding an impressive undefeated streak. If we add all competitions into the mix, then Leverkusen have not lost for their past 14 contests, although they have just seven wins over that span. The fact that they have not lost is certainly encouraging, but the high number of draws should be con…

Seluk: Guardiola did not respect City

Yaya Toure s agent Dimitri Seluk has continued his verbal offensive against Pep Guardiola, accusing the Manchester City boss of labelling his current club as a s*** team back in 2010.

Guardiola said on Tuesday he would not select Toure for City until the player apologised for Seluk s public complaints that the former Ivory Coast international was left humiliated by his omission from the Premier League leaders Champions League squad.

Far from backing down, Seluk launched a lengthy tirade in response via interviews with Sky Sports News and the Daily Mirror  in which he belittled Guardiola s achievements and questioned his integrity over City announcing his appointment while Manuel Pellegrini remained at the helm last season.

Seluk continued the theme on Wednesday,…
